Amy Hudson new Cullman High School volleyball coach

Feb. 9—Cullman High School named Amy Hudson as the school's head volleyball coach during a brief meeting Thursday, Feb. 8.

CHS assistant principal and athletic director Mark Stephens described Hudson's record while at Arab High School as "brief but highly effective" while introducing her to Cullman City School Board members Thursday evening. Hudson's accomplishments include a .720 winning percentage over the last three years and two state championship appearances in 2022 and 2023.

Hudson told the board that she was excited to join the Bearcat family after a "very emotional" final day at AHS where her husband, Chad, will remain as the head baseball coach.

"I am so excited to be here. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Cullman. I know its reputation and after a very emotional day today, I can now get passed that and I'm excited. Thank you for the opportunity and let's get to work," Hudson said.

In other business the board:

* Approved a contract with Robyn Nance to provide homebound services from Feb. 1 â€" May 31.

* Approved the conditional employment of the following personnel: Walker Caretti â€" Long term substitute for Career Technical Education Marketing at Cullman High School; Holly Wade â€" Special Education instructional assistant at Cullman City Primary School; Garret Talbot â€" Special Education Instructional Assistant at Cullman City Primary School.

* Approved a JV assistant soccer coach supplement for Walker Caretti.
