Matthew Jones commits to Ohio State

Brooklyn (N.Y.) Erasmus Hall two-way lineman Matthew Jones was considered to be on commitment watch heading into his weekend visit to Ohio State. That proved to be true for the four-star prospect as he gave Ohio State his verbal pledge on Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect had been trending Ohio State's way for sometime and the Buckeyes were considered the team to beat for him since the very beginning of the process.
Jones' commitment was confirmed by Erasmus Hall head coach Danny Landberg.
But Ohio State still had to work for it as Jones entertained offers from schools like Penn State, Clemson, Alabama, Rutgers, and many more, before deciding to put an end to his recruiting process before his senior season gets ramped up.
Helping seal the deal for Ohio State on this visit was that Jones made the trip with virtually his entire family. With those closest to him signing off on everything, Jones went ahead and made the call.
Jones is the third prospect that Ohio State has landed in recent years out of the Erasmus Hall program joining current Carolina Panthers wide receiver Curtis Samuel and second-year Buckeye Jahsen Wint.
Jones has the ability to play on either the offensive or defensive line at the college level but has been recruited by Ohio State to play offensive line and will likely play on the interior.
