9:35 Bondurant-Farrar pulling away from Gilbert

It’s been a tight game all night between the No. 2 Tigers and No. 3 Bondurant-Farrar, but the Bluejays seem to be pulling away now.

Late in the third quarter, Titus Cram found the end zone for the first time tonight to give Bondurant Farrar a 17-7 lead. Then on the very next drive, Cram took it to the house again to give Bondurant-Farrar a 24-7 lead with under 10 minutes to play in the game.

9:25 Ankeny pulls away late to topple Liberty

After another defensive stand, it looked like the Hawks would cruise to a tight win over Iowa City Liberty. But now it looks like a blowout after a 71-yard touchdown scamper from Caden Henkes makes it 40-21 in favor of Ankeny.

That’ll just about wrap that one up. Hawks improve to 5-2 on the season, Liberty drops to 2-5

9:20 Harlan finally gets on the board

That puts the Hawks up 30-21 with 6:24 to play out in Ankeny.

9:00 Dowling pulling away from Urbandale

The Maroons go up 29-0 after another rushing touchdown. We’re late in the fourth quarter in that one so it may be goodnight for the J-Hawks

8:55 Ankeny re-takes lead

After Liberty took a 21-20 lead over the Hawks, Ankeny answered right back with a quick drive down the field to re-take the lead thanks to a 33-yard field goal from Ryan Harrington Hawks up 23-21 early in the final frame.

8:51 Games are already wrapping up

Lots of ground and pound in Iowa tonight to combat the wind. Some games have already gone final and it's not even 9 p.m.

8:50 Solon takes lead right at the half

The Spartans find the end zone with less than five seconds left in the half to take a 14-7 lead over top-ranked Williamsburg at the break.

8:46 Southeast Polk has nearly put it away

How is it already the fourth quarter? Games this week are flying. The Rams are up 26-0 on Waukee early in the final frame. Conor Moberly found the end zone this time from one yard out, his second short TD run of the night.

8:45 Nevada up big over Harlan

It’s a three-score lead for the Cubs at halftime

8:40 Pleasant Valley not messing around

After falling behind early, the Spartans are showing why they’re ranked No. 4 in Class 5A

8:10 Iowa City West is dominating Cedar Rapids Washington

8:09 Boundurant-Farrar with a pass out of Wildcat!

They tie it up at 7 against Gilbert early in the second quarter.

8:05 North Polk up two scores on Indianola at the break

8:00 Gilbert on top over Bondurant-Farrar

The Cinderella story might be continuing for another week. Undefeated Gilbert is up 7-0 on the Bluejays after an Alden Short TD.

7:52 Ankeny answers right back

After Liberty took the lead, Ankeny wasted no time in tying it back up.

7:47 Iowa City Liberty re-takes lead over Ankeny

7:12 Southeast Polk takes lead on No. 5 Waukee

The second-ranked Rams had about as good a start on offense as possible. Connor Moberly puts an exclamation point on a methodical opening drive by finding the end zone from one yard out.

The snap on the PAT was muffed, so Southeast Polk takes a 6-0 lead over Waukee about halfway through the first quarter.

7:10 Iowa City Liberty takes early lead on Ankeny

7:02 Dowling notches first TD of the night

That didn't take long. The Maroons have taken a 7-0 lead on Urbandale on a 95-yard kickoff return for a score.

By our count, that's the first scoring by any team around the state tonight.

7:00 Just about ready for kickoff

High school football action around the state is about to start. Let's have some fun.

6:25 Weather may impact games tonight

While we're fortunate to have clear skies across the majority of the state tonight, that doesn't mean the weather won't impact how the game is played. It's the first fall evening in Iowa this year that actually feels like a fall evening. Temperatures have dipped into the low 50s and high 40s across the state.

But the thing that will impact the games is the heavy chance of wind throughout the state. In central Iowa, the win is consistently around 15 miles per hour in some places. Could make it difficult to pass the ball and won't make things easy in the kicking game either.
