Albuquerque's Jain Fuller ready to get back on winning track at LFA 164 in El Paso

When Albuquerque's Jalin Fuller steps into the Octagon on Friday night at Southwest University Park, he'll be looking for redemption.

The Legacy Fighting Alliance competitor lost by TKO to Trey Waters in April after controlling the action early in the bout.

"I certainly want to get back into the win column," Fuller said. "I was doing well in the fight against Trey Waters and he caught me. I want to come back and showcase my skill level and show what I am about and what I am capable of. I want to continue to be able to showcase my skills in kickboxing and muy thai that have helped me grow in this sport"

Fuller is 7-3 and his opponent Daniel Frunza is 6-2 and the two will fight at the welterweight limit of 170 pounds. The pair will fight three, five-minute rounds.

Jalin Fuller, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, will fight Daniel Frunza in a welterweight fight on Friday night at Southwest University Park as part of a UFC Fight Pass televised card. First fight is at 7 p.m. and the TV portion of the fight card starts at 9 p.m.

Fuller and Frunza will be the co-main event of LFA 164 on Friday. Overall 10 fights scheduled on the card, which begins at 7 p.m. The main portion of the card, which features six fights, begins at 9 p.m. and those fights will be shown on UFC Fight Pass.

"Mixed Martial Arts captivated me a few years ago and that's how I got started," Fuller said. "I wanted to take a chance in the sport and I've enjoyed it. I have a good team in Albuquerque and I'm eager to be fighting so close to my hometown. Some of my fans are coming to the fights."

Fuller does have combat sports in his background as he is the cousin of former IBF cruiserweight champion Al Cole.

"I've talked to my cousin and he's had some advice for me through the years, he was a good fighter and had lots of success," Fuller said. "I want to put on a good show on Friday for the fans and give my best. I feel confident in my abilities and I feel I will come out on top. Albuquerque is a good place for MMA, I get quality sparring and I feel like I am ready for this fight. I'm glad I'm back in the ring right away after my fight in April."

Gates open at 6 p.m. Friday and tickets are available at the SWUP Box Office. Tickets begin at $50.
