Alabama high school sports: Vote for Gadsden times boys and girls athlete of the Week of Feb. 9

It's that time of the week, time to vote for the Gadsden area boys and girls athlete of the week.

Glencoe basketball swept the vote last week with Grant Smith earning 51% of the boys vote and Kinlee Montgomery winning 47% of the vote to earn the girls title last week. Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers from the week before. Voting will last until Thursday at noon.

Gadsden area boys athlete of the week nominations

  • Glencoe's Grant Smith - 24 points, 15 rebounds (1 game)

  • Geraldine's Jaxon Colvin's - 33 points (2 games)

  • Ashville's Parker Smith - 14 points, 12 rebounds (1 game)

  • Sardis's Eli Morton - 34 points (2 games)

  • Westbrook Christian's Eli Edge - 41 points (2 games)

Gadsden area girls athlete of the week nominations

  • Cherokee County's Mary Hayes Johnson - two track state titles (60-meter hurdle, 400-meter)

  • Southside's Madison Shaw - 24 points (2 games)

  • Susan Moore's Lani Smallwood - 25 points (1 game)

  • Sand Rock's Katelyn St. Clair - 60 points (3 games)

  • Spring Garden's Ace Austin - 50 points, 28 assists, 18 steals, 15 rebounds (3 games, triple double on Friday)
