Alabama high school football Montgomery-area top five matchups and predictions for Week 8
Week 8 of the Alabama high school football season has arrived and begins Thursday, Oct. 19 as the regular season winds down to its final weeks.
The Montgomery Advertiser will be present at the Cramton Bowl for the final Westside Classic game between Carver and Lanier. However, here are the top five Montgomery-area matchups in Week 8 with game predictions provided by prep writer Jerry Humphrey III.

Prattville vs Percy Julian
Date: Friday, Oct. 20
Time: 7 p.m.
Prediction: Percy Julian wins 35-21
Analysis: Two programs looking to end their season on positive notes will matchup against each other as Prattville hosts Percy Julian. Prattville's season has been up and down, and Percy Julian should win this matchup in convincing fashion putting them back in the win column.
B.T. Washington vs Andalusia
Date: Friday, Oct. 20
Time: 7 p.m.
Prediction: Andalusia wins 48-28
Analysis: B.T. Washington has been trending upwards their last couple of games winning four straight after starting the year 1-2. Andalusia on the other hand is an undefeated powerhouse who can embarrass teams. So for the Golden Eagles to come out victorious Friday they will need to play perfect all four quarters.
Trinity vs Prattville Christian
Date: Friday, Oct. 20
Time: 7 p.m.
Prediction: Trinity wins 42-0
Analysis: After a crucial Week 7 loss to Saint James costing Trinity the area title, this week against Prattville Christian will be a revenge game to bounce back from. Winning out the rest of their schedule can get the Wildcats into the postseason. However, dominating Prattville Christian this week can remind doubters in the area about this team.
Holtville vs Demopolis
Date: Friday, Oct. 20
Time: 7 p.m.
Prediction: Holtville wins 45-42
Analysis: Demopolis dominated Holtville last season in their first meeting against each other. Now facing off in a second straight year, this matchup should be a lot more competitive especially with Holtville sitting at one loss on the season.
Auburn vs Central Phenix City
Date: Friday, Oct. 20
Time: 7 p.m.
Prediction: Auburn wins 14-7
Analysis: This will be one of the best games in the entire state as two powerhouse programs will face off in a game full of highly recruited athletes. The one loss Tigers will host the undefeated Red Devils where all the marbles will be on the line, including state rankings, playoffs seedings and most of all respect. This will be a fun one to keep an eye out for Friday.
