Alabama high school football: Gadsden area rankings of top 10 football teams

Here are the all-class power rankings ahead of Week 9 of the high school football season in the Gadsden area. All 27 teams, regardless of class, in the Gadsden Times coverage zone are eligible to be ranked.

1. Cherokee County (8-0)

The Warriors rode the Jacob Cornejo show to their second straight region title. Last Week: No. 1, 49-0 over Etowah; This week: Away at Ashville

2. Southside (7-1)

The mission is simple, win and your region champs for the Panthers this week. Last Week: No. 2, 49-21 over Alexandria; This week: Away vs. Moody

3. Gadsden City (6-3)

Gadsden City rolled to another region win, going undefeated in back-to-back seasons in their region. Last Week: No. 3, 41-0 over Lee-Huntsville; This week: Home vs. Calera

4. Guntersville (6-1)

Guntersville's chance for a region title slipped away after a loss to Arab but a win over Sardis could force a tiebreaker. Last week: 6, 29-19 loss to Arab; This week: Away at Sardis

5. Fyffe (7-1)

It wasn't always pretty but Fyffe clinched their eighth straight region championship and 12th since 2011. Last Week: No. 5, 56-42 over Pisgah; This week: Away at Ider

6. Jacksonville (7-1)

Jacksonville took a bye week before a harsh two game stretch to end the regular season. Last Week: No. 7, Idle; This week: Home vs. White Plains

7. Sardis (5-3)

Sardis now needs help to make the playoffs after dropping a game to Boaz. Last week: No. 4, 35-21 loss to Boaz This week: Home vs. Guntersville

8. Geraldine (7-1)

Geraldine still has one blemish on its record, but has been rolling through the schedule outside of that. Last week: No. 8, 47-27 win over Piedmont; This week: Away at Glencoe

9 . Sylvania (6-1)

Sylvania overwhelmed Plainview and rolls into a matchup with Hokes Bluff, one that could be telling for both teams. Last Week: No. 10, 28-21 win over Hokes Bluff This week: Away at Westbrook Christian

10. Pisgah (7-1)

The Eagles finally dropped a game, a hard fought battle against Fyffe. Last week: No. 9, 56-42 loss to Fyffe This week: Away at Section
