Alabama high school football: Gadsden area rankings of top 10 football teams

Here are the all-class power rankings ahead of Week 10 of the high school football season in the Gadsden area. All 27 teams, regardless of class, in the Gadsden Times coverage zone are eligible to be ranked.

1. Cherokee County (9-0)

The Warriors have a big matchup with Fort Payne before the real season starts for them. Last Week: No. 1, 56-7 Win vs. Ashville; This week: Home vs. Fort Payne

2. Southside (7-2)

The Panthers fell to Moody but that shouldn't discount what this group accomplished this season, now its a major county rivalry with Etowah. Last Week: No. 2, 34-21 loss to Moody; This week: Away vs. Etowah

3. Gadsden City (7-3)

Gadsden City gets to rest up before the playoffs start next week. Last Week: No. 3, 46-0 Win vs. Calera; This week: Idle

4. Guntersville (7-1)

Guntersville has the oldest rivalry in the state this week, before playoffs kick off. Last week: 4, 55-0 Win vs. Sardis This week: Away at Albertville

5. Fyffe (8-1)

Coach Paul Benefield earned his 300th win on Friday, becoming the second coach to do so at one school. Last Week: No. 5, 46-0 Win vs. Ider; This week: Away at Sylvania

6. Jacksonville (8-1)

Jacksonville rolled to a win in its final region game of the season over White Plains. Last Week: No. 6, 62-0 Win vs. White Plains; This week: Home vs. Oxford

7. Geraldine (8-1)

Geraldine rolled to a win over Glencoe, one final game awaits before playoffs. Last week: No. 8, 54-7 Win vs. Glencoe; This week: Away at Hatton

8. Sylvania (8-1)

Sylvania clinched its first region title since 2016, setting them up for success in playoffs. Last Week: No. 9, 30-7 Win vs. Westbrook Chr.; This week: Home vs. Fyffe

9. Pisgah (8-1)

The Eagles rebounded with a win after dropping their first game of the season. Last week: No. 10, 50-20 Win vs. Section This week: Home vs. North Jackson

10. Sardis (5-4)

Sardis started the season strong but will not make the playoffs. Last week: No. 4, 55-0 Loss to Guntersville; This week: Home vs. Hokes Bluff
