Alabama baseball's Hagan Banks will miss the remainder of the season, coach Rob Vaughn announces

Alabama baseball junior pitcher Hagan Banks will miss the remainder of the season after injuring his right elbow, which caused him to exit Sunday's game against Georgia — after pitching 1 ⅓ innings. Banks will be getting surgery next week, coach Rob Vaughn announced after Alabama's 4-3 win against South Carolina on Thursday.

"The good news is that it was not a full tear, it's not a reconstruction or anything so he'll be ready for the start of next season which is huge," Vaughn said.

This is a big loss for Alabama's pitching staff as they are already without pitcher Riley Quick the rest of the season, as well.

Banks ends his junior campaign pitching seven innings, striking out nine, walking three and allowing four runs on seven hits. He will return to the Crimson Tide full healthy for the 2024-25 season and should play a key role on the mound.

Alabama returns to action on against South Carolina at 6 p.m. Friday in Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
