Alabama Baseball rallies to defeat High Point 10-6 in Game 2 of series

The Alabama baseball team had to overcome some adversity to pick up the win on Saturday. The Tide were down 6-0 heading into the fifth inning. High Point plated six runs in the third inning. However, Alabama responded with 10 unanswered runs to win 10-6.

The Tide were led at the plate by fifth-year senior Drew Williamson and junior Dominic Tamez.

Williamson went 2-for-5 with a timely, three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Tamez went 2-for-4 at the plate including a three-run home run to give Alabama the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. That inning was the turning point of the game as Alabama brought across seven runs to go ahead 7-6.

Starting pitcher Ben Hess struggled on the mound, allowing six runs on six hits. He was aided in relief by Connor Ball, Zane Probst, and Braylon Myers. The three combined to throw six innings of scoreless ball while allowing just three hits.

Ball (1-0) picked up the win on the mound in the come-from-behind victory.

Alabama improved to 7-0 while High Point fell to 3-3 on the new season. The two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon for the series finale. Alabama will be going for the three-game sweep over the Panthers. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CST and will air on SEC Network+.
