Alabama Baseball lands Wofford transfer pitcher Coulson Buchanan
The Alabama baseball team received some good news on Sunday evening as Wofford transfer pitcher Coulson Buchanan announced that he was transferring to Alabama.
Buchanan was a part of Wofford’s 2021 recruiting class. He committed to the Terriers out of North Gwinett High School in Sugar Hill, Georgia. As a member of the Bulldogs pitching rotation, Buchanan was named the Region 8 7A Pitcher of the Year and received All-State second-team honors. He finished his senior season with eight saves and held a 2.17 ERA.
As a freshman at Wofford, Buchanan pitched in 16 games with six of them coming as a starter. He finished the season with a 4-1 record and a 4.63 ERA. In 56.1 innings pitched, Buchanan struck out 65 batters while allowing 57 hits.
During his sophomore season, Buchanan became a starting pitcher. In 18 starts, Buchanan pitched 91.1 innings while striking out 91 batters and allowing 53 earned runs. He would finish the season with a 5-4 record and a 5.22 ERA.
Buchanan is the fourth transfer that head coach Rob Vaughn has been able to land. Maryland transfer Ian Petrutz, Rutgers transfer Evan Sleight, and Ole Miss transfer TJ McCants were the three other transfers.
