Alabama baseball eliminates rival Auburn in SEC Tournament as the offense rolls

HOOVER, ALA. — It was the Iron Bowl of baseball in the SEC Tournament on Thursday.

Alabama baseball eliminated in-state rival Auburn with a 7-4 victory in an elimination bracket game. The Crimson Tide racked up 14 hits on the day.

Alabama will advance to play the loser of Thursday's nightcap between Florida and Vanderbilt. That game will be the nightcap on Friday, 35 minutes after Game 1 on SEC Network.

Tommy Seidl got Alabama started with a solo home run before Auburn tied it up in the second. Alabama scored the next four runs to open up the game before Auburn responded with two runs in the sixth. The Crimson Tide extended its lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Great stretch for Tommy Seidl

Seidl was the hero the previous night until Florida came back to win in extra innings. In a stretch of four at-bats, he had the three-RBI go-ahead double vs. Florida, a home run vs. Auburn, a single that he was able to come around and score on and an RBI single. Siedl left the game in the fourth inning, possibly with an injury.

Big fourth inning gets it done

Alabama held a one-run lead going into the fourth inning but opened up the game with three runs. Four hits, three of which were RBI singles, did the damage. Alabama used two stolen bases and a flyout to move runners into scoring position, which allowed the singles to do their damage.
