Alabama athletics self-reports nine minor NCAA violations

The University of Alabama athletic department self-reported nine minor NCAA violations for the 2022-23 sports calendar, including none in the football program and two by the men's basketball program.

The school released its findings Friday.

The men's basketball violations included a declaration of ineligibility for a player who had a prior relationship with someone UA hired for its football strength and conditioning program, after which Alabama applied for reinstatement. In the other violation, a recruit participated in a game-day simulation during an unofficial visit to campus, which resulted in rules education for staff members.

All nine of the violations were of the Level III variety, the least problematic where the NCAA is concerned.

Other violations included two by the men's track and field program, and one each by the rowing, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis and women's golf programs.

Last year, Alabama reported 12 secondary violations for 2021-22, with the track and field program responsible for four of them. Three came from the men's basketball program, and none were reported from the football program.
