Al Michaels tells Pat McAfee why fans should attend the Indy 500

Take it from someone who has seen – and announced – just about everything in sports.

Al Michaels joined Pat McAfee on Friday and gave his highest recommendation to the Indianapolis 500. He said he hosted the television coverage a few times and has attended as a fan, including last year.

"When people ask (me) what event they should see in person at least once, I say the Indianapolis 500," Michaels said. "The start of the race is as exhilarating as anything in sports: 33 cars, three abreast, coming down at 220 mph. Whew!'"

McAfee chimed in with some realistic car sounds before saying: "They're strapping themselves to rockets."

In describing the size of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, McAfee shouted out the Snake Pit concert, which goes for several hours before and during the race in the infield.

"There's a full techno festival happening within the track, and nobody has a clue that the race is happening," McAfee said.
