Al Harris retires as a Packer
Al Harris got his first big break in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles when Andy Reid was head coach.
Now, Harris is coaching defensive backs under Reid for the Kansas City Chiefs.
But Harris said he “feels like a Packer” and that is why he officially retired as one today. He spent seven of his 14 seasons playing in Green Bay and had the best years of his career with the Packers as a physical, man-to-man cornerback. A two-time Pro Bowl performer, the Packers gave Harris a Super Bowl ring even though he was not on the 2010 team. He’d been released after suffering a torn ACL.
“It was important for me to retire as a Packer,” Harris said on a conference call, according to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Being that I played four games in Miami, was on the 2011 St. Louis Rams team, played five years in Philadelphia, a year in Tampa, I think that I'll always be remembered a Packer. I feel like a Packer.”
