A's activate Cahill, send Bassitt to Triple-A

The Oakland A's activated right-handed pitcher Trevor Cahill from the 10-day disabled list, the team announced Thursday.

To make room on the roster, the A's optioned right-hander Chris Bassitt to Triple-A Nashville.

A strained right Achilles forced Cahill to miss 27 games. On the season, he is 1-2 with a 3.08 ERA in eight starts. Cahill, 30, began the season in Nashville to begin the season, making three starts and compiling an 0-1 record with a 2.63 ERA in 13 2/3 innings pitched.

Bassitt, 29, pitched 32 innings for Oakland this season, going 2-3 with a 3.38 ERA in six starts. He earned the win Wednesday at Houston, pitching five innings of three-run ball.
