Player Notes
Trevor Cahill was blasted for eight earned runs over 3 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: The next time Cahill sees the Dodgers will be too soon -- regardless of the month, temperature, and even continent, they've had his number this season. Cahill was whipped for five runs and eight hits in four innings to kick off his season in Australia on March 23. Then, on April 13, the Dodgers bludgeoned Cahill for seven runs in four innings. That start was so bad Arizona kicked Cahill out of the rotation. Let's put this in perspective: Tonight's performance was the worst of the bunch. Between July 14 (when he was recalled from the minors) and yesterday, Cahill went 2-2 with a 3.43 ERA in seven starts. Luckily for him, no Dodger blue will be in sight with a trip to San Diego on deck.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Angels are not expected to trade for Trevor Cahill.

Advice: Cahill has been mentioned as a possibility for the Angels in the wake of the Garrett Richards (knee) injury, but Rosenthal says the two sides last spoke about Cahill weeks ago. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman has reported that the Angels are also considering Bartolo Colon, Scott Feldman and A.J. Burnett, but a deal isn't looking likely at this point. A big reason why is because the Halos have little in the way of trade chips.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Diamondbacks have placed Trevor Cahill, Oliver Perez, Cliff Pennington, Addison Reed and Brad Ziegler on revocable waivers.

Advice: Out of the group, Cahill might have the best chance of getting dealt. The sinkerballer has pitched well since rejoining the Arizona rotation, posting a 3.43 ERA over seven starts. His $12 million salary for 2015 could scare some teams off, but a club with a need in the rotation might take a shot.

Trevor Cahill pitched well, but got a no-decision after allowing two runs in 6 1/3 innings in Wednesday's walk-off loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Cahill has, for the most part, pitched well since rejoining the rotation to begin the second half. Including Wednesday's outing, he has a 3.43 ERA over his last seven starts. Against the Nationals, he yielded six hits and four walks while striking out five. On the season, Cahill has a 4.54 ERA, a 1.51 WHIP, and a 75/37 K/BB ratio, which he'll take into Tuesday's start at home against the Dodgers.
