7 athletes grab silver at FHSAA State Track and Field Championships

JACKSONVILLE − Seven athletes finished second and four athletes took third along with one relay team at the Florida High School Athletic Association Track and Field Championships on Wednesday through Saturday at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.

In Class 4A, Riverview High’s Susan Lowther and Luis Castaneda, North Port High’ Malia Hambrick and Sarasota High’s Tyler Boyd all were runners-up in their respective events.

Lowther finished second in the girls discus in 137 feet, 4 inches. Castaneda took second in the boys discus with a 164-5. Hambrick grabbed second in the 800 run in 2:15.32. Boyd was second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.14 seconds.

In Class 3A, Southeast High’s Azharia Jones was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 18-9.

In Class 1A, Saint Stephen’s Keymani Dillingham was second in the shot put with a put of 37-8 ¾. Dillingham also was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:06.08 and fifth in the 100 hurdles in 15.04. Out-of-Door Academy’s John Moschella grabbed second in the 400 in 56.67.

Placing third were Cardinal Mooney Catholic’s Addison Dempsey (10:44.76 in the 3,200) and Marc Dalmau (161-2 in the discus) in 2A and Venice High’s Alyson Francolini (11-9 ¾ in the pole vault) in 4A. Out-of-Door’s Tyler Beck tied for third in the 1A pole vault with a 12-9 ½.

Also in 4A, the foursome of Bon Bean, Ty’ron Jackson, Ramsey Cole and Kei’Shawn Smith were third in the 4x100 relay in 41.45.
