Centralia I-5 Toyota Mountain Dew claimed its spot as the best AAA legion team in the state Thursday, beating the Kennewick Phantoms 2-0 to win the state championship at Mount Vernon High School..

W.F. West's Miles Martin went the whole way on the bump in a complete-game shutout, only striking out three but not walking any Phantoms. As the Dewers collected their trophy, the Bearcat came away with an individual award, as the tournament's Pitching MVP.

Alongside him, Napavine's Conner Holmes earned Offensive MVP honors, after going 2 for 4. The I-5 leadoff hitter racked up at least two hits in all six of the Dewers' games, finishing the tournament with a .560 batting average after going 14 for 25.

Thursday, Martin kept I-5 Toyota even in a scoreless pitchers' duel for five innings, before the Dewers finally sprung for a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, with Brady Sprague (Centralia) driving one run in and the Phantoms throwing another one home.

Tate Quarnstrom (Rochester) went 2 for 3 with a pair of singles. Weston Potter (W.F. West) had I-5 Toyota's only other hit.

The win and title ends the Dewers' season with an overall record of 26-8. Afterwards, head coach Bryan Bullock took the chance to thank the team's sponsors, as well as the parents who made the trip north to Skagit County and the community back home in Lewis County.
