5 players who will play larger roles in Alabama’s Week 11 matchup against Kentucky
Alabama has had a handful of injuries this season. Therefore, several players have had to step up this season.
In Week 10, two Alabama starters — Deontae Lawson and Jaylen Key suffered injuries. Lawson suffered an ankle injury and Key suffered a quad injury. Both will be sidelined against Kentucky in Week 11.
With that said, multiple players will be expected to fill in for them. Also, several players are seeing increased roles that will likely see that trend continue as the season progresses.

Kendrick Law
In Week 9, Alabama fans saw sophomore Kendrick Law make plays at running back, wide receiver, and as the team’s kick returner. The Louisiana native has been compared to San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Both Samuel and Law are versatile enough to impact the game in a multitude of ways. Law had his best game of the season last week. I would expect his role to increase moving forward. Law lining up in the backfield as well as at wide receiver can create some confusion for Kentucky’s defense. That could come in handy for the Crimson Tide on Saturday afternoon.
Kristian Story
With starting safety Jaylen Key suffering an injury against LSU, Alabama turned to senior Kristian Story. Over the last few weeks, Story has seen more and more playing time. His role will certainly increase even more with Key being ruled out for the Kentucky game. Story provides valuable experience and depth at the safety position. It will be interesting to see how he performs against the Wildcats.
Jihaad Campbell
One of the bright spots on Alabama’s defense this season has been sophomore linebacker Jihaad Campbell. The New Jersey native has filled in at linebacker on multiple occasions following injuries to starting MIKE linebacker Deontae Lawson. He has done a great job of stepping in and accepting his role. With Lawson suffering an injury in Week 9, Alabama will look toward Campbell to replace him in Week 10.
Kobe Prentice
One of the players that has kind of flown under the radar this season has been sophomore Kobe Prentice. When he is on the field, he seems to make a big block or a big catch. However, that has not come very often with the other talent surrounding him at the wide receiver position. Prentice played a good bit against LSU. Will his role increase moving forward? I certainly think so. He is too versatile of a player to not see the field. His speed and skillset present matchup problems for opposing defensive backs.
Trey Amos
Much like Campbell, senior cornerback Trey Amos has stepped in at cornerback on multiple occasions. Whether it be to replace Malachi Moore or Terrion Arnold, Amos has faired well in the secondary. He provides valuable experience and depth as well. Amos has been a reliable option to fill in for injured players. He will likely be used in multiple packages with safety Jaylen Key being unavailable for Saturday’s game against Kentucky. Amos will be a player to keep a close eye on moving forward.
