Sectional draw takeaways: The good, the bad and the can't-miss.
Flory Bidunga, Kokomo: The 6-10 senior and Kansas recruit posted a triple-double with 17 points, 24 rebounds and 10 blocked shots in Kokomo’s 62-49 North Central Conference-clinching win over Anderson. Bidunga also posted 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 59-37 win over Tippecanoe Valley.
Grady Carpenter, Tipton: Add another junior to the 1,000-point group. Carpenter went for 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in a 73-50 win over Oak Hill and had 22 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in the Class 2A top-ranked Blue Devils’ 63-51 win over Lafayette Central Catholic to reach the 1,000-point mark.
Austin Carr, Westfield: Carr, a student manager for four years, got the chance to suit up for a game on senior night against Franklin Central. Carr entered the game with 23.6 seconds remaining and drilled a 3-pointer seconds later from several feet beyond the arc for his first varsity points in a 64-50 win. Carr nearly added a 50-foot shot at the buzzer.

Cam Craig, Switzerland County: The 6-4 junior had 21 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 62-55 win over Rising Sun and went for 40 points, 13 rebounds, five steals and three assists in a 76-25 win over New Washington.
Melakih Cunningham, Decatur Central: The junior went for 16 points and 14 rebounds in a 74-67 win over Christel House and had 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots in a 75-56 win over University.
Julius Gizzi, New Palestine: The junior guard put up a season-high 44 points on 19-for-35 shooting (5-for-5 from free-throw line) in a 76-75 win over Whiteland. Gizzi also posted 17 rebounds and three assists in the win.
Gavin Hawkins, Western Boone: Western Boone lost a 52-51 heartbreaker to Cascade but the junior did his part with 31 points on 11-for-16 shooting with three steals, two assists and two rebounds. Hawkins was 8-for-9 from the free-throw line.
Aidan Hughes, Cathedral: The junior had a big game in Cathedral’s 73-64 win over Ben Davis, finishing with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting with nine rebounds and two assists. He added nine points, three rebounds and two assists in an 84-81 loss at Louisville Male.
Grant Porath, Brownsburg: The senior went for 19 points, including 13 in the second half, in Brownsburg’s 51-50 victory over red-hot Hamilton Southeastern.
Joshua Renfro, Christian Academy: Renfro, a 6-2 junior guard, had 20 points on 7-for-7 shooting (5-for-5 from the 3-point line) in a 60-26 win over Crothersville. Renfro topped that with a 43-point performance on 10-for-12 shooting from the 3-point line in a 96-34 win over Cannelton. Renfro was a combined 22-for-24 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the two wins.
Nathan Rushing, Floyd Central: The senior, coming off a 35-point game last week against Charlestown, stayed hot with 30 points, five steals, three rebounds and two assists in a 77-70 loss to North Central and 21 points, six rebounds, three blocked shots, three assists and one steal in a 92-77 win over Jennings County. Rushing then had 13 points, six rebounds, six steals and three assists in a 77-56 loss to Bloomington North.
Dereon Truesdale, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers: The 6-4 junior went for 24 points on 10-for-17 shooting with 12 rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocked shots in a 66-62 win over Fort Wayne North Side. Truesdale added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists in a 63-58 win over Bellmont.
L.J. Ward, Lutheran: The junior guard had 31 points, seven assists, six steals and five rebounds in Lutheran’s 87-54 win over Covenant Christian.
Eugene Young Jr., Fort Wayne North Side: The senior went for 26 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and three blocked shots and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer in North Side’s 78-76 overtime win over Adams Central. Young had a blocked shot on the next possession to help secure the win.
Cooper Zachary, Fishers: The freshman guard was 6-for-7 from the 3-point line and finished with 18 points, six assists and two steals in the Class 4A top-ranked Tigers’ 90-79 win over Lawrence North.
