This 4-star OL named Florida among top 5 preferred schools

Florida football’s recruiting efforts continue to roll along as Billy Napier and Co. work tirelessly to restore glory to the Orange and Blue. The Gators got some good news on Sunday afternoon ahead of the flip of the calendar from April to May when a blue-chip prospect announced his top schools on his personal Twitter account.

Four-star offensive tackle Fletcher Westphal out of Leesburg (Virginia) Tuscarora listed his top five schools with Florida making the latest cut. The other schools that earned the 6-foot-8-inch, 295-pound lineman’s confidence — bringing the grand total to four SEC institutions — are the Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, Clemson Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs.

Assistant coach/offensive coordinator Rob Sale has been the point man in Westphal’s recruitment with assistant coach/offensive line coach Darnell Stapelton assisting in the task. Florida is one of 34 programs to offer him a scholarship.

Westphal is ranked No. 244 overall and No. 22 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 234 and 17, respectively. Despite the recent announcement, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Maryland Terrapins in front for his commitment with an 11.2% chance of signing him, while the Virginia Tech Hokies (9.8%), Virginia Cavaliers (6.8%) and Clemson (5.6%) follow behind, respectively.
