3-star tight end Danny Lewis Jr. commits to Alabama over LSU

Three-star tight end Danny Lewis Jr., who was seen dancing with LSU coach Brian Kelly in a viral video, has committed to Alabama, he announced on Wednesday.

At 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, Lewis is the No. 36 recruit in Louisiana and the No. 40 tight end nationally, according to 247Sports Composite. Along with the Tide, the Westgate star also had LSU and Florida in his final three schools.

He was committed to Cincinnati until Jan. 12.

According to 247Sports, he made official visits to LSU, Alabama and Florida over the last two weeks. A viral video of Lewis dancing with Kelly emerged from his official visit in Baton Rouge that accumulated more than 8 million views.

Lewis won the Most Outstanding Player award for his performance in the Louisiana Class 4A state championship game, leading Westgate to its first-ever state title with seven catches for 179 yards and a touchdown. He earned an offer from Florida the following day.

Lewis' commitment to Alabama comes despite his relationship with LSU offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock. Denbrock targeted Lewis when he was the Bearcats' offensive coordinator and tight ends coach and has been Lewis' primary recruiter since joining LSU.
