2025 4-star wide receiver Quincy Porter commits to Ohio State football. What we know

Another top-50 wide receiver is joining Ohio State.

Quincy Porter, a four-star wide receiver out of Oradell, New Jersey, committed to Ohio State Friday, according to a report by On3. He picked the Buckeyes over Michigan, which was Porter's first offer, Penn State and Oklahoma.

Porter is ranked as the No. 49 player in the class per 247Sports' composite rankings. He is also the eighth-ranked wide receiver.

Porter was offered by Ohio State in January 2023 after getting offers from programs such as Georgia, Oregon and Tennessee. But Porter saw a chance to be the next receiver developed by wide receivers coach Brian Hartline.

“You can see the speed and the strength they all play with,” Porter said of Ohio State-turned NFL wide receivers like Garrett Wilson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. “And it shows that they are doing well in the league. They are not just doing it in college. They are all doing well in the league.”

After his official visit June 7-9, Porter said Ohio State left a “good” impression, and that the Buckeyes remain “really high” on his list.

Porter was supposed to hold official visits with Michigan and Oklahoma.

Porter is Ohio State's second wide receiver commitment in 2025, joining fellow New Jersey four-star De'zie Jones. Ohio State has three New Jersey players in the 2025 class in Porter, Jones and four-star safety DeShawn Stewart.

Ohio State's most recent class with multiple New Jersey players was in 2020 when the Buckeyes landed linebacker Cody Simon and center Luke Wypler.

Quincy Porter commitment analysis: What it means for Ohio State

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Porter sees himself as Ohio State's next great wide receiver to make the jump to the NFL. If anything, Porter sees himself in a similar way to a 13-year NFL veteran in Julio Jones.

“I think we have a similar size and build,” Porter said. “And he’s a big guy that can run, and has a high IQ. So that’s basically me.”

After bringing in 686 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore, Porter recorded 41 catches for 969 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns at Bergen Catholic in 2023.

On average, Ohio State has landed three wide receivers per class. But the Buckeyes landed two in five-stars Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham in 2024.

With Porter and De'zie Jones in the fold, expect Ohio State to continue to build Hartline's room with at least two more members by the end of the class.

But with Porter, Ohio State has that outside receiver threat, that big-bodied receiver that could turn himself into a scoring threat.
