2023 LSU Tigers Snapshot Profile: No. 36 Nick Demas
Going into the 2023 football season, LSU Wire will be looking at each player listed on the Tigers’ roster.
Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Brian Kelly this season.
We continue to look at an absolutely loaded running back room with Nick Demas, a former walk-on who enters his redshirt junior season in 2023. Demas earned a scholarship ahead of the 2021 season, and he’s proven to be a fairly big contributor on special teams while also seeing some action on offense.

Depth Chart Overview
Coming out of Guerin Catholic High School in Westfield, Indiana, Demas opted to walk on at LSU for the 2020 season. He didn’t appear in any games as a true freshman and took a redshirt year during the COVID-affected season.
He saw action in 2021, mostly on special teams, and he appeared in 11 games. He didn’t record a stat, though. He may not have earned any carries, but he did earn a scholarship from coach Ed Orgeron last fall.
Demas did, however, see 108 special teams snaps — 55 on kickoffs — a trend that continued in 2022. In the nine games he appeared in, 63 of his 75 snaps came on special teams. He did see his first action on offense as well, taking five carries for 10 yards.
LSU has considerable depth at the running back position, and he’ll likely only see reserve action there. However, he’s proven himself to be valuable on special teams, and that’s likely where he’ll see the bulk of his snaps once again
