2022 NBA mock draft: Jalen Williams fills Sixers’ need for wing depth

The Philadelphia 76ers currently hold the No. 23 pick in the 2022 NBA draft set for June 23 and there are plenty of options they can go with that pick. They can either make the selection and add some wing depth or they can trade the pick and get some win-now help.

In the case that the Sixers do, in fact, make this selection, the consensus is that they will add a player who will help at the wing positions off the bench.

A mock draft performed by CBS Sports has the Sixers selecting Jalen Williams out of Santa Clara with their selection:

Williams’ statistical profile from his junior season at Santa Clara stands out, as he averaged 18 points on 39.6% 3-point shooting and 55.1% 2-point shooting while also dishing out 4.2 assists per game. How he’ll translate to the NBA after playing in the WCC for a team not named Gonzaga is a fair question. But at this point in the draft, he’s worth a shot.

Williams has good size at 6-foot-6 and 209 pounds so he could morph into a 3-and-D player in this league and provide some help off the team’s bench. The Sixers have always been in need of some help with the second unit and a guy like Williams would be a player who can help right away after three seasons of college basketball.
