2022-23 final Philadelphia 76ers player grades: Furkan Korkmaz
The 2022-23 season ended for the Philadelphia 76ers with a Game 7 loss to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the playoffs, so it’s time to reflect on the season.
The Sixers finished 54-28 and were third in the Eastern Conference behind the Milwaukee Bucks and the Celtics in the standings. Considering the 12-12 start, the season was a success despite the sour and familiar ending.
Now it’s time to grade each player on the roster for what he did throughout the season. In this installment, Sixers Wire looks at Furkan Korkmaz who averaged his lowest minutes in a season since his rookie year.

Thoughts
Korkmaz faced an uphill battle to get minutes before the season even began. A mainstay in the rotation in previous seasons, he saw his minutes given to new additions including De’Anthony Melton. Coach Doc Rivers mentioned before the season there would be a competition for minutes and Korkmaz missed out. He requested a trade during the season and Daryl Morey tried to accommodate him at the deadline, but nothing came of it.
There was one stretch in November and December when the Sixers were ravaged by injuries and he stepped in and provided good minutes. He had nine points off the bench in a Nov. 22 win over the Brooklyn Nets and 17 points in a Nov. 27 win over the Orlando Magic.
In the playoffs, he was completely out of the rotation. Korkmaz played 2:24 in Game 1 against the Nets and 8:52 of garbage time across two different games against the Boston Celtics. One has to assume the Sixers will try to accommodate Korkmaz with a trade in the offseason.
