The 15 high school field hockey players to watch in MetroWest for the upcoming season

Fifteen area teams made the field hockey state playoffs last season. Though powers like Franklin and Dover-Sherborn graduated stars, seven members of the Daily News Field Hockey All-Star team are back on the turf this fall.

Our list of field hockey players to watch includes Final Four participants, league MVPs and a player invited to the U.S. national team camp.

Avery Bent, Sr., Dover-Sherborn

The Tri-Valley All-Star helped the Raiders reach the Division 3 Final Four. The forward reads the game well and is also able to take over with her stick handling. She also plays club for East Coast Wizards Field Hockey.

Lindsey Brown, Jr., Algonquin

The Northwestern commit has attended the Team USA national selection camp at both the U16 and U19 levels. Maxfieldhockey.com rates her as one of the top 50 players in her class. She scored four goals with six assists last season, as the Titans reached the Division 1 playoffs.

Lizzie Brytowski, Sr., Hopedale

The stellar softball pitcher also made a splash with a field hockey stick. She was named a Central Mass. Division 4 All-Star and helped Hopedale to the Division 4 tournament.

Emma Carney, Jr., Franklin

While her older sister Kaitlyn is off to play lacrosse at James Madison, Emily returns to the Panthers after putting away 12 goals with 19 assists last season. She has 48 career points already and brings back the experience of a Division 1 quarterfinal trip. Emily Carney is a two-time Hockomock League All-Star.

Makenna Doucette, Sr., Natick

Fresh off a Division 1 tournament trip, the Bay State All-Star has big shoes to fill after league MVP Brooke Spiegel took her talents to Union. The star ice hockey player brings that physicality to the grass and turf.

Abby Fielder, Sr., Westborough

She scored a team-high six goals for the Rangers last year, as they reached the Division 2 state tournament.

Emma Gosselin, Sr., Hopedale

A candidate for the Dual Valley Conference Player of the Year last season, Gosselin has been a varsity starter since eighth grade. She is a two-time DVC all-star and had seven goals and seven assists last year.

Ayla Hallock, Sr., Ashland

Hallock committed to play collegiately at Merrimack in the spring. The defender and midfielder has refined her outlet game and showcases a powerful work ethic on both sides of the ball. Ashland reached the Division 3 round of 16 last season as she was named a Tri-Valley All-Star.

Abby Hennessey, Sr., Marlborough

She was named a Central Mass. Division 2 All-Star as well as a Mid Watch All-Star last season, as the Panthers earned a spot in the state tournament. Her older sister Emma plays soccer at UMass Lowell, while her brother Colin played with the USA U19 national team and was a practice player at Penn State.

Drew Hussar, Sr., Dover-Sherborn

She scored three goals on a Final Four team last season and was named a Tri-Valley League All-Star. Hussar plays for the Wizards field hockey club and is a National Honor Society Member. Hussar was a team captain as a junior.

Alyssa MacNeil, Sr., Hopedale

The Dual Valley Conference All-Star scored 11 goals with five assists last season. She participated in the Bay State games and plays for the Premier Field Hockey club team. MacNeil is a two-time MIAA ambassador.

Maggie Monaghan, Sr., Medway

The Tri-Valley All-Star helped the Mustangs reach the Division 3 Round of 16 last fall. She also plays ice hockey.

Shae O’Neill, Jr., Medway

She was named the team MVP as a sophomore goalie. O'Neill logged six shutouts en route to being named a Tri-Valley League All-Star. She played every minute of last year's 18-game schedule and stopped 27 shots against Medfield. O'Neill plays club for the MetroWest Storm.

Cammie Perlov, Sr., Hopkinton

The Fairfield commit poured in 23 goals a year ago, leading the Hillers to the Division 2 Round of 16. She was named the Tri-Valley League Large MVP and Team MVP. This fall will be her fourth varsity season, and she also runs track.

Kaitlyn Uller, Jr., Wellesley

The Bay State conference All-Star has 30 career goals already. She scored 19 with 12 assists last season, as Wellesley reached the Division 1 state tournament. Uller also starts for the Raiders lacrosse team.
