Rafael Nadal pulled out of the London Olympics on Thursday due to injury.
Dancer: I am a conservative Christian and I have good friends of all races. There has been injustice in our nation and we do need change but only prayer and people truly seeking God will bring redemptive change. If you are Christian you should look at issues like abortion when placing your vote. Democratic liberals 'feed' the people a welfare check and keep them 'dumbed down'. In order to truly see change we need leaders who will create jobs and restore hope to individuals. Common Core in schools objective is to lower the standards so we are ignorant and don't think for ourselves. Keep us 'fat' and 'happy' so only the elite will prosper. Soon those kept ignorant will not be needed and will somehow be cut off but for now they'll be kept in their back pockets as their worth is based on their vote. Wake up Christians - red, yellow, black and white! Don't allow your vote to be bought but rather pray your eyes will be opened. Pray God will expose the lies of liberal media and liberal democratic agenda. There is no way a true Christian of any ethnicity could justify voting mass murdering of babies through abortion. Wake up Americans and vote for Trump!🇺🇸
As we still try to process the death of Marlins star Jose Fernandez in a boating accident, we can’t help but be reminded that it is, sadly, not without precedent. The example which most obviously and immediately springs to mind are the deaths of Cleveland Indians pitchers Steve Olin and Tim Crews, who were killed in a boating accident on Little Lake Nellie in Clermont, Florida during spring training in 1993. Olin was only 27 and had four years in the bigs, all with Cleveland, under his belt. Three years ago, Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com caught up with the families of Crews and Olin — their widows and their children — and told us about how they have all coped with their shocking deaths over the previous two decades.
Wayne Rooney was the subject of much drama from social media on Saturday after the Manchester United captain was dropped in favor of Juan Mata. Of course, that drama was quickly subdued when United rolled through Leicester City with four first half goals en route to a 4-1 win at Old Trafford. Mata had a goal and an assist, leading to several questions for manager Jose Mourinho after the match. He answered them. That’s not always a given. From the BBC: “Wayne Rooney is a big player for me, United and this country. he is my man, I trust him completely. He is happy.” “We have lost six points in the Premier League. We have four victories which is really important. Today it is about the security and

TORONTO – Brad Marchand might not be “Brad Marchand” anymore. There was a time his name carried an undeniable connotation. He was a pest. He was a injurious sneak. The President of the United States called him a “little ball of hate.” Not so much now,
To keep up with the Tom Brady-less and undefeated New England Patriots, the New York Jets need to beat the Kansas City Chiefs on the road.
By the way, you can stream Sunday’s game at Yahoo’s Sports Home, MLB index and video home beginning at 1:10 p.m. Once loaded with arms like Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz and Zack Wheeler, New York is currently down to Noah Syndergaard, who’s currently battling strep throat, and Bartolo Colon, who is officially its steadiest and healthiest rotation option. Therein lies the problem for the Mets.

"The level of concern is DEFCON 4," Collins said to reporters on Wednesday, Sept. 24. "It's been 10 days and he hasn't been able to swing. I'm very concerned." Flores received a second cortisone injection Monday, Sept. 20, for a bone bruise in his wrist. Flores initially injured himself sliding headfirst into Braves catcher A.J. Pierzynski during the game on Saturday, Sept. 10, which appeared to cause significant impact to his head and
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The city of Charlotte is on high alert after several nights of unrest related to the police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott. On Sunday, Interim City Manager Ron Kimble declared the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings game at Bank of America Stadium “an Extraordinary Event,” allowing for greater police control. The designation also allows police more latitude to stop and search people within an area for several blocks in all directions from Bank of America Stadium and prevent protesters from gathering en masse. Officials were worried about protesters disrupting fans or the game. The fears were not totally founded, however, as a group of around 100 demonstrators gathered across

Stoffel Vandoorne believes that 2017 was his “last chance” to make the step up to Formula 1 with McLaren after spending the past two years waiting in the wings for a seat. McLaren announced over the Italian Grand Prix weekend that Vandoorne would be moving into a full-time race seat for 2017 alongside Fernando Alonso following Jenson Button’s decision to take a sabbatical. Vandoorne had been knocking on McLaren’s door for a seat for some time, particularly after winning the GP2 title in 2015.
The toilet paper hanging from one of Auburn University's famed Toomer's Corner oak trees was set on fire late Saturday night and surveillance footage of the corner appears to show a person intentionally setting the fire. According to a report from Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com, the Nationals’ Daniel Murphy has been shut down by the team through the weekend series against the Pirates. An MRI revealed a “left buttocks strain” for the infielder, who injured his leg last weekend while sliding into second base on a double. Several days of rest hasn’t done wonders for Murphy’s leg, and now that he has a clear diagnosis, it gives the team some options going forward. One of those options is keeping Murphy available as a pinch-hitter, since the strain is supposed to primarily affect his ability to run the bases. The 31-year-old took two at-bats off the bench this week, going 0-for-2, though Zuckerman reported that
There was not a whole lot of movement in the top portion of the Amway Coaches Poll this week, as most of the top teams maintained their positioning within the top 10. Alabama remains on top of the coaches poll, without much debate, ahead of Ohio State, Clemson and Louisville. The Miami Hurricanes had the biggest rise in the coaches poll this week, jumping up five spots to No. 14 with a 3-0 record. The Hurricanes trail No. 13 Baylor, the highest-ranked team in the Big 12 in this week’s coaches poll. No. 8 Wisconsin is one of three Big Ten teams in the top 10, joining Ohio State and No. 5 Michigan. No. 15 Nebraska moved ahead of No. 16 Michigan State this week. Here is the full coaches top 25 for
Ralph Vacchiano | Facebook | Twitter | Archive EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Three weeks into the season, the New York Giants have a golden chance to bury the defending NFC East champions. Right? "I wouldn't say that," Giants linebacker Jonathan Casillas said. "It's a divisional opponent and these wins are huge. But what people aren't really saying, they are the defending champs. They are the NFC East champs. We have to dethrone them. We have to go through them because they have that title." Maybe that's true, but the Redskins are 0-2 and the Giants are 2-0, and a Giants win on Sunday afternoon could put Washington in such a deep hole from which it might never be able to recover. As early as it is,
Tomas Fleischmann won’t take part in the Minnesota Wild’s training camp after all. As the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, the team didn’t reveal details of his failed physical, although it’s worth mentioning that Fleischmann has been dealing with blood clot issues for some time. One cannot help but wonder if this is it for Fleischmann’s career.
At a media luncheon hosted by new Islanders owner Jonathan Ledecky over the summer, he made it a point at each table visited to mention how Barclays Center was the Islanders home for the future and how he was working tirelessly hand-in-hand with Brett Yormark to make the experience a winning one for players, their families and last, but never least, the fans. Then came the rumblings, whether they were leaked intentionally or unintentionally, of the team looking for a permanent home that was not in Brooklyn, a facility they can call their own. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the feasibility of that is slim, at best. So we are back to improving the conditions of the facility the Islanders currently
As both the star defenseman and Chicago Blackhawks staffers noted to CSN Chicago’s Tracey Myers, there’s a lot of optimism that he’ll be ready to go for the regular season. While it’s a situation for Chicago to watch – he’s going to be withheld from certain preseason activities and likely games – it sounds like he made the wise move. Yes, it’s true that the Blackhawks have some defensive storylines to follow before the season begins.
With the Washington Capitals, he watched Alex Ovechkin burst onto the scene in 2005. Now with the Toronto Maple Leafs some 11 years later, he has a ringside seat for Auston Matthews‘ debut. “It puts a big smile on your face,” Laich, a 12-year veteran, said about watching Matthews.
Alabama entered its Week 4 non-conference game against Nick Saban‘s alma mater without a pair of wide receivers, including its leading pass-catcher. Now, it’s the Tide’s ground game that’s wounded. On UA’s fifth play from scrimmage in the game against Kent State, Damien Harris took a helmet to his right knee and had to be helped off the field and into a medical tent. A short time later, he hopped to a cart with his injured leg heavily bandaged and was taken into the locker room for further evaluation. A short time ago, the Tide’s radio network confirmed that Harris will not return to the game. The specific nature and severity of the injury are not yet known. Harris entered Week 4 as the Tide’s

But surgery had to wait until after the birth of the couple's first child. According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Holiday (formerly Cheney), will have surgery six weeks after giving birth. Jrue Holiday, New Orleans' second-leading scorer, will miss the start of the season to tend to his family. Lauren, a two-time Olympic gold medalist,
Welp! If you thought there was any chance Brock Lesnar would lose a match at a WWE house show, or that Randy Orton would actually get his win back from SummerSlam, or even that the rumors would be true and they would book a non-finish, you were wrong. The two met at tonight’s (Sept. 24, 2016) house show in Chicago and it went about like you’d expect. You can check out a Periscope of the entire match here, for however long it lasts. Before the match, Paul Heyman cut a promo asking that it become a No Disqualification match. Twitter tells us Orton changed his game plan and, with the new rules in place, opened with a sneak attack: It appeared he may even have a chance! Alas, he met the same fate
