Shutdown Corner - NFL

It's Monday night, and we've got an intriguing little contest. The Saints, along with the current leader in the clubhouse for NFL MVP, quarterback Drew Brees, play host to the thus far-disappointing Vikings and Adrian Peterson. It might not be as physical and violent as last week's game, but this week, from time to time, there might be touchdowns.

Myself, tag team partner Chris Chase, and fantasy savant Scott Pianowski will be here this week to hang with ya. We'd love your questions, comments, observations (as well as guesses as to what Ragnar is doing that lady behind the moon) though we weill permit no disparaging of Crocs this evening.

We'll get going around 15 minutes before kickoff. Do the right thing and join us.

Well, we've probably got a half-way decent game on ESPN. Too bad the announcers are so bad.
Thank goodness for radio coverage. If ESPN wants fans to listen to their broadcast, the first thing they need do do is dump kornhauser. Terrible and stupid moronic comments are what he contributes. He makes Dennis Miller look like an announcing genius. PLEASE, PLEASE ESPN, get this jackass off the air and let the fans enjoy the game.

    clemster, totally disagree.
kornheiser's humor and sarcasm are exactly what a boring broadcast needs.
Someone please pass this info on to Dan Dierdorf. He is THE all-time worst football announcer - and extremely boring.

The Saints had better win this game. If the game is still close in the 4th, its a toss up. If the Saints can build a lead coming into the 4th quarter, they should pull this off. Otherwise, the Vikings might pull this out

How is returning a blocked punt for a touchdown and forcing three fumbles and recovering two lucky? I'll give you the fact the one should have been a face mask penalty. Let's not forget Winfield forced a fumble on a sack that lead to a touchdown earlier this season. I don't think anyone is that "lucky".
These past couple years it does seem that for our team to win, our defense needs to score.

another stellar night for ed hack-the-call-4-me and his brilliant crew. how long is the nfl going to allow this idiot to screw up big league games. i won't lie, i want the saints to do well but only want them to win it if they deserve to. but my lord be at least a little cognizant of the game you have a free front row seat to call. they miss the face mask and that is one thing, but then to call an obvious ball that hit the turf a catch only to have it reversed after making the poor fan sit through a wasted 2 mninutes is a whole new bumbled call. these guys are brain dead. then again the league will find it more inportant to fine players or coaches that criticize this clown and his 3 ring circus instead of sitting his tail down or letting him go back to calling little league saturday games. then he might have a better appreciation of how tough fans, coaches and manical parents can be when you blatantly miss easy to make calls. cut this guy's salary to $15 per game and give the extra money to some company that our country is deciding to bail out today. oh hell that is another soap box for a different day. sorry.

I agree with you, Winfield is a beast. He seems to be on 125% All Out, All the time. To hit Brees, handle the ball and then not touch the ground is phenomenal. What was impressive is to watch the way he set up the sack while watching it at full speed. Impressive.

i would like to file a formal complaint on the refs for the game they are cheating the saints out of fair play and the should be dealt with by firing them to get the message across that the refs are being bought by the teams and should be alienated away from all contacts from uppers of the teams so they cant favor one team and have a fair game this is bull [profane] and everyone knows that

The Saints can win if they can catch the ball and hang on to it.

Yea the facemasking mistake was a blown call, but not sure how one can call that by Pederson a fumble. At least they got that call right, when his knee hit the ground, the ball was still in his "possession" regardless if it is "on the way out. They got that call right, but of course I'm a Viking fan !! :)
