Shutdown Corner - NFL

Titans bruiser LenDale White only got one carry yesterday, and that left him pretty unhappy. That much is understandable, but the important thing is how a guy reacts to the personal adversity. LenDale, you're up.

So what if he had gotten the ball more yesterday in the loss to the Jets?

“You never know, man,” White said. “I can't tell you that. I don't know if I would have gotten the ball 30 times if we would have won the game or not. I would like to be involved more, but if I am not involved I would like somebody to tell me what's going on. Coming into these games, you expect to get certain carries or see certain things going on at least that's what they tell you."

Good ...

“And then you get in these games and then randomly you only play three plays. I just wish somebody would let me know what's going on before I go out there. Three plays, I don't know what you want me to do with three plays. I don't know what three plays is helping me do.”

Okay. You want better communication. If they're going to cut your carries, you just wish someone would've told you first. That's understandable.

So LenDale -- what's that? You're not finished? Uh oh.

“I have been over it. It is a game, so what?’’ White said. “You would like to win it, but it is one game, so what? … I only played three plays so I really couldn't tell you what happened, I don't really know, I wasn't paying attention, I didn't care really."

LenDale, come on! You were doing so well. Not just with this quote, but with your whole career. You used to have a not-so-sterling reputation, you know. But you've been working hard, being a good teammate, and co-existing as one half of the league's most dangerous one-two punches. It's alright if you're mad, but you don't even care to look at the scoreboard now? For shame.

This is no time for "I wasn't paying attention, I didn't care" quotes. Who are you, Vince Young? For 10 games, everything was strawberries and sunshine ... one loss and one game of underutilization later, and you just don't care? You're not even paying attention to the game?

You don't mean that. I know you don't mean that. Take it back, and we'll all move on.

can you blame the guy? you go 10-0 by running the ball and playing great d, then you decide to only run the ball eleven times, and twice in the second half when you're only down 10-3? white only one carry the entire game? let kerry collins throw the ball 39 times? coaches are out of their freaking minds sometimes, i swear. the only thing you can blame him for is being a competitor, and being competent enough to know that if fischer decides to try to win the game with collins, they will lose every time.

Just to chime in on Andrew #5... sure, they STARTED the 2nd half 10-3, but NY got the ball to start and drove for a field goal the first possession. 13-3. Then on the FIRST play after the ensuing kickoff, C Johnson fumbles. NY takes over and drives for a TD. 20-3 now, with 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. So now you're down 3 scores with barely over a quarter of football left to play. Of course Tennessee was going to start throwing the ball...

    ...and just to continue...
Tennessee goes pass-happy and gets a FG on their next possession. 20-6. NY's next drive ended with the 61 yard TD run... uh oh, 27-6, 11 minutes left! I'm sure Tennessee was thinking "Let's pound that ball!"... Yeah right.................

good for #6/7...... thanks for pointing out that #5 is a dumbass.... makes a lot of sense to ridicule the longest tenured coach in football and coincidentally one of the better coaches. #5 you are just a dumbass. Go watch women's basketball and give your opinions where nobody pays attention and doesn't care. dumbass

Vince Young, if you read any blogs. Request a trade!
A team with a very good run defense and a decent offense will trip the Titans up.
With the running game shut down, there is no way you can win with the "Old timer and the Garage sale gang."
The Titans organization should be ashamed of themselves. I think high draft choices should make organizations like the Titans put something in writing. If you are going to recruit a top QB, you should at least make efforts to get some quality receivers.
When the Packers shut down the running game, there was not way the Titans were going to win. Granted, Bret Farve is just as old as Collins, but he has a core of receivers.
Fischer will never win a super bowl. He is too one dimensional. He his too old school and not ready to let the NFL go where it needs to go. You get a talent like Vince Young and bench him?
The best thing Young can do is find a way out of his contract and be traded to a team with some decent receivers and a coach with more than a defensive/run philosophy.

The Tittans got exposed for what they are... a fraudulant 10-0 team. They don't have any really legit wins in their column. They caught Indy at the right time (who by the way have rattled off like 5 in a row since). The only other victory that could be considered legit would be Baltimore, maybe. But the Ravens are schitzo and are difficult to gauge at this point. The Jets, however, play in what is arguably the toughest division in football, play good offense and defense, and will punch you in the mouth. Oh by the way, Jets just beat the Patsies and the Titties on their own turf. The Tittans ran into a team with a legit run-defense and a balanced offense and got rocked in their own house. Their QB got rattled with a little bit of pressure and their receivers heard the footsteps and got a case of the dropsies. Good luck with the Steelers and the Colts on the rebound. The Tittans have no character and will get bounced out of the playoffs early. Too bad they can't play the rest of their games on paper. Hahaha... and now they have to deal with a malcontent jiggle-belly sissy-back who can only carry the rock one yard at a time.

So the Titans had a bad day. A few dropped passes, CJ fumbles, D not clicking like ussual. So what! Bound to happen sooner or later. Better now than in the playoffs. They still have the best record in the AFC and will still likely have homefield for playoffs. This loss might just be the best thing to happen at this point. Bring them back down to earth and make them tougher, more determined. Lendale will be okay after he cools off a bit.

so they laid a collective brain fart that game - so what? at least they did it in a meaningless game in the regular season as opposed to when it's win or you're out. titans will be fine. they'll be feasting on turkey (aka the detroit lions) soon enough.

It's ok Titans, this won't be your only loss this year...The Steelers are going to come in and own you. And I won't underestimate the Jets now, they can play good regular season ball, but you'll still choke in the playoffs.

Fisher threw the game in a calculated move to prevent the Pats from the inside track on winning the division. They know they will make the Jets look stupid in the playoffs, but everyone fears the Pats. Everyone.

C'mon #27 Chrissy B. Fischer "threw the game"? Don't bet your mustache on it. The Tites just aren't as good as their record reflects. Their schedule bears that out. If you can stuff the run and pressure Collins, all you need to do is score 20 pts to beat the Tites. Which every AFC playoff team will be able to do, except maybe whoever wins the AFC west (which shouldn't be allowed to particiapte in the playoffs by the way). The Tites are a flawed one dimmensional team that'll fold like an envelope if you punch'em in the mouth. As a team, they are as soft as L. Whites chubby tummy.
