Jeremy Brigham played tight end for the Raiders between 1998 to 2001, and how he's coaching a youth football team of 10- and 11-year-olds. He is apparently taking the job very, very seriously.

A father of one of Brigham's players, according to SFGate.com, says he was on the receiving end of a Brigham punch to the back of the head. The father is Scott Haggerty, who also happens to be Alameda County Supervisor.

It's a weird story. Haggerty's side of it goes like this: He used to be an assistant coach for the team, but Brigham fired him after he missed a film session (again, that's a film session for a league consisting of 10- and 11-year old boys). Haggerty did show up on Saturday, though, to watch his son's team beat the snot out of some other hapless kids, 38-0. Film study pays off, I guess.

Anyway, the next day, the losing coach saw Brigham at a meeting and said, "Haggerty gave me all your plays." Haggerty says that the man was joking, and that Brigham just didn't get the joke. He says he doesn't even know the plays.

From there, Haggerty says that Brigham confronted him and (via InsideBayArea.com) "knocked his BlackBerry out of his hand, bent him over a four-foot fence, then punched him in the back of the head."

Yikes. That's rather frightening. I suppose, though, that when a man gets bent over a fence, he's probably lucky if the worst thing that happens to him is a punch to the back of the head. But that's just me, and I try to be glass-half-full about things.

Again, this is just Haggerty's side of the story, and Brigham hasn't told his. I just hope all this gets sorted out so we know if Brigham is really doing things the Raider way.

The NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB are all in season and this is the story you choose to write. Wow!

Interesting background on Brigham. But what about Scott Haggerty? Haggerty has a reputation as kind of a middle-aged punk. I attended an Alameda Board meeting where he just bullied this woman who was a victim of racial discrimination. His record as Supervisor is very mixed, to say the least.

This has got to be made up. If it was true, there's no way the Raiders would have let him go.
Robert C, it's a football blog, jackass. If you look at the top of your page, there are buttons for NBA, NHL, and MLB. I suggest you click on them.

Bent over a fence? Then punched in the back of the head? That combo just makes no sense.

I was simply making the point that there are much more interesting things going on than this.
Yes, I am aware it is a football blog...just trying to make a point.....I am sure there are plenty of stories from the other sports that could relate to football that would have been more relevant than this.
OK, I will rephrase - The NFL season is in full swing and a story about a 4 year Raider TE, that nobody but Die Hard Raider fans even remeber, makes the news because of a pee-wee league altercation? Ridiculous.

If Jamarcus Russel had tried to hit Haggerty he would have missed him by 5 yards. Al Davis tried to call Jamarcus Russel the other day but Jamarcus could not find the reciver to answer the phone.
