Yankees acquire Pearce from Astros

The New York Yankees re-acquired former farmhand Steve Pearce from the Houston Astros for cash considerations.

Pearce played for the Yankees' Triple-A Scranton affiliate from March 29-June 2, where he hit .318 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI. The Yankees traded him to the Orioles on June 2.

Pearce hit .254 with eight RBIs and five extra-base hits for the Astros.

The Yankees will make a corresponding move on the 25-man roster to accommodate Pearce when he joins the team Tuesday. Brandon Laird was designated for assignment to create a spot for Pearce on the 40-man roster.
