Vikings LG Johnson restructures contract

Minnesota Vikings left guard Charlie Johnson restructured his contract that cut his maximum salary and cap number for the year by $500,000, ESPN1500 reported Sunday.

Johnson was schedule to earn a base salary of $2.95 million this year, including a $50,000 workout bonus and a $500,000 roster bonus that would have gone into effect Saturday. The former deal also included incentives of up to $250,000.

Instead, Johnson's roster bonus got bumped up to $750,000, the incentives were eliminated and he gets a $2.45 million base salary. The new contract dropped his cap number from $4.35 million to $3.85 million.

Johnson, 28, has started every game for the Vikings in his two years with the team. He spent the first five years of his career with the Indianapolis Colts. He has played 105 NFL games, including 86 starts.
