UFC heavyweight del Rosario dies

Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight prospect Shane del Rosario died Monday after suffering a heart attack two weeks ago, the UFC and his family announced. He was just 30 years old.

Del Rosario was rushed to the hospital Nov. 26 "in full cardiac arrest,"? his manager Jason House wrote on Twitter. He was in critical condition at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, Calif., until Monday when he passed away.

The Hacienda Heights, Calif., native was a top prospect coming over from Strikeforce to the UFC, but lost his first two fights with the organization. His final bout came last December. He finished his MMA career with an 11-2 record.

UFC's statement on its website:

"The Ultimate Fighting Championship mourns the tragic loss of heavyweight competitor Shane Del Rosario, who has passed away at the age of 30. Del Rosario suffered a heart attack on Tuesday, Nov. 26 as a result of what doctors believe to be a congenital heart disorder, according to his manager Jason House. The entire organization sends its deepest condolences to Shane's family and friends."

"RIP to one of the best people I've ever had the honor to have in my life and call my best friend," UFC flyweight Ian McCall posted on his Twitter account Monday. McCall was Del Rosario's roommate and teammate.
