UFC 149 Fight Card Takes Another Body Blow, Loses Siyar Bahadurzada

And the hits just keep on coming…

UFC 149 was dealt another body blow on late Saturday night when UFC officials announced that Siyar Bahadurzada was the latest fighter to fall off the fight card due to injury.

As a result, Bahadurzada’s opponent, Chris Clements, will instead face Matt Riddle, who has agreed to step in and fight.

This fight is perfect example of all the changes that the UFC 149 fight card – the promotion’s first in Calgary – has undergone since its inception.

This fight was originally between Thiago Alves and Yoshihiro Akiyama. Bahadurzada stepped into the fight when Akiyama fell to injury. Alves was then the next one to go with Clements filling his slot.

Now, with Bahadurzada dropping out of the bout, we’ve come full circle to Clements vs. Riddle.

Clements (11-4) is on a five-fight winning streak, including his Octagon debut at UFC 145. Riddle, a product of The Ultimate Fighter, has spent his entire professional career in the UFC, compiling a 6-3 record.

Urijah Faber and Renan Barão headline the UFC 149 fight, battling for the interim bantamweight championship on July 21 at ScotiaBank Saddledome in Calgary.
