UConn's Samuelson goes 10-for-10 from 3-point line, explodes for 40 points
Katie Lou Samuelson couldn’t miss in No. 1 UConn’s 100-44 AAC title game victory over South Florida on Monday night. She hit one three. And then another. And another. And by the end of the night she had rained in a perfect 10-of-10 from 3-point range – an NCAA Division I women’s record.
According to ESPN Stats and Information, the sophomore’s perfect ten ties Andre Smith’s Division I men’s record. It surpasses the NBA record of 9-of-9 made 3-pointers by both Latrell Sprewell and Ben Gordon. The WNBA record for most 3-pointers without missing is six.
In the first half alone, Samuelson had drained a perfect 7-of-7 3’s and had 29 points.
And although she didn’t play in the fourth quarter, Samuelson finished 12-of-14 overall and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. She became just the third player in UConn history to score 40 points in a game.
