Timberwolves waive G Roy

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Friday that they waived guard Brandon Roy.

Roy had seven knee surgeries during his career and came out of retirement this season. Roy averaged 5.8 points in five games in November before having surgery. He had a setback while recovering and was unable to play any more games.

"We wish Brandon and his family all the best in the future," Timberwolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders said in a statement.

In six seasons, Roy has averaged 18.8 points, 4.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.
