Tim Boetsch vs. Luke Rockhold Added to UFC 166 Fight Card in Houston

A middleweight bout between former Strikeforce middleweight titleholder Luke Rockhold (10-2) and Tim Boetsch (16-6) has been added to the UFC 166: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos 3 fight card in Houston.

UFC officials confirmed the match-up to ESPN.com on Tuesday.

Boetsch rose to contender status in the UFC’s 205-pound division in 2012, stringing together a four-fight winning streak that included wins over Yushin Okami and Hector Lombard, but has lost his last two fights.

Rockhold made his UFC debut on May 18, losing by knockout to former light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort. Prior to his promotional debut loss, Rockhold was on an impressive nine-fight winning streak.

Both fighters will be looking to rebound from loses in their most recent outings and move back into the title picture.

UFC 166 takes place on Oct. 19 at the Toyoto Center in Houston. The event is headlined by the third bout between heavyweight titleholder Cain Velasquez and former champion Junior dos Santos.
