Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Texas was delayed from it’s originally scheduled 2:15 p.m. ET start because of rain that hit the track just before 2 p.m. ET.

The rain was off-and-on for about 90 minutes. But the 15-year-old track surface at Texas Motor Speedway doesn’t dry very quickly. And the track has had problems in the past with weepers — where water creeps up from cracks in the asphalt.

Combine with humid conditions and overcast skies, it’s going to be Sunday evening, at the earliest, before the race begins. When it does, Austin Dillon will lead the field to the green.
