Steelers go with LT Beachum ahead of Adams

Kelvin Beachum, not newly acquired Levi Brown or Mike Adams, will start at left tacke for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

Adams, a second-round pick struggling to consistently wall off defensive linemen, will still get his chances, but he's practicing behind Brown and Beachum, coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday.

"Most important thing is how he responds and moves forward. It will define him in his career," Tomlin said.

Brown's role is still being established. He could find his way onto the field at guard or tackle.

Tomlin said he "didn't anticipate" Adams would play poorly. He said he told the second-year tackle to roll up his sleeves and get to work.

Tomlin also confirmed a change on the first-team defensive line, with Ziggy Hood being benched by Cameron Heyward.

Heyward is second on the team with nine quarterback pressures. Tomlin said the decision simply came down to the team believing it needed to get Heyward on the field more.
