Seattle Seahawks Daily Dose of Pain – Thursday, December 29

Thomas Rawls
Thomas Rawls

Your daily dose of the most negative news in the Seattle Seahawks universe: injuries.

Just a couple of days after our previous update, the news looks decidedly better at Virginia Mason. Corned beef hash is back on the menu! Oh, and the injury situation looks better, too. On to the report!

Player: Thomas Rawls

Nope, not going to the biggest news first. If you wanna hear about *that* guy, you’ll just have to wait. Or, you know, skim down until you see his name in bold. And technically, it’s the bigger news, not the biggest, as there are miraculously only two names to discuss. Okay, enough of the shell game. Running back Rawls put in his second day of full practice Thursday, and appears to be ready for the New Year’s Day contest versus the 49ers. Definitely good news, as at times this season the backfield depth was like great pastrami – impossibly thin. Rookie Alex Collins will likely get plenty of touches as well, depending on the game situation.

Kam Chancellor

Yeah, we know, this is the guy you were *really* worried about – and with good reason. Seattle’s defense certainly hasn’t been the same since safety Earl Thomas went down; the likelihood of a deep run into the postseason is practically nil without the Hawks’ other star safety. Happily, Chancellor got a full practice in on Thursday after resting his ankle injury the day before. This bodes ill for our chums from San Francisco, as well as future opponents.

Players: Ahtyba Rubin

Okay, I lied; one more player to mention, and that would be defensive tackle Rubin. He wasn’t even listed on the official injury report, so that should tell you all you need to know about his wrist sprain. To be specific; one, luckily it isn’t that bad, and two, I would definitely have taken six weeks of FMLA for this. These guys are tough. Of course, to hear the old guard talk, guys like Mike Ditka, they played entire games with missing hands and missing legs. Story is, Dick Butkus once played three straight games while decapitated – and the guys today think they’re tough. Well, they are to me!

Hope everyone is enjoying their sixth day of Hanukkah. Look for the final regular season injury update on Saturday, and until then, go Hawks!
