Breaking News:

Seahawks release Chris Clemons

National Football Post

With Cliff Avril in the fold for another season and Michael Bennett recently signing a four-year, $28.5 million extension, it was just a matter of time before the Seattle Seahawks made a move along the defensive line to free up some cap space.

Per Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the Seahawks released defensive end Chris Clemons on Wednesday. A nine-year veteran who spent the last four seasons with the Seahawks, Clemons recorded 11.0 or more sacks in each year from 2010-2012 before bringing down the quarterback just 4.5 times in 14 games last season.

Releasing Clemons will clear $7.5 million of cap space for the Seahawks.

The 32-year-old pass rusher is now free to sign with any team.
