Ronda Rousey Will 100-Percent Fight in January

It's all over but the shouting.

UFC president Dana White on Friday guaranteed that Ronda Rousey would next defend her UFC bantamweight belt in January.

“She’s 100-percent fighting in January,” said White during the UFC 181 kick-off press conference in Las Vegas. “She’s gonna fight in January, she’s gonna go film a movie, and then hopefully she’ll be back to fight again in March.”

White didn't say so directly, but that almost assuredly means Rousey will get her wish and land on the UFC 182 fight card on Jan. 3 featuring Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier.

The question now is who will Rousey defend her title against?

At this point, Gina Carano is out of the question, at least for January. The spotlight likely shifts to the winner of Saturday's fight between the returning No. 1 contender Cat Zingano and her opponent Amanda Nunes. Although White has not guaranteed either a shot, he is certainly leaning towards Zingano if she wins and emerges unscathed.

“Cat's No. 1. Yep (she's next). Yep (makes sense),” White told Fox Sports on Thursday when asked about Zingano getting the next shot at Rousey.

After Saturday night's UFC 178, the picture should gain the final bit of clarity.
