Richmond 68, Fairfield 47

Richmond forward Terry Allen scored 16 points and the Spiders dominated defensively in their 68-47 victory over Fairfield in the consolation game of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic in Uncasville, Conn., on Sunday.

Forward Derrick Williams and guard ShawnDre' Jones each added 11 for the Spiders (4-2), who overcame a mediocre shooting day from the field by making 26 of their 32 free throw attempts. Forward Alonzo Nelson-Ododa fell just short of a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.

The Stags (1-5) were led by forward Marcus Gilbert, who finished with 10 points but went 3-for-13 from the field. Fairfield shot 33 percent from the field and went 2-for-19 from 3-point range. Fairfield also turned the ball over 15 times and committed 25 fouls in dropping its fifth game in a row.

Richmond guard Cedrick Lindsay scored seven points, giving him 1,004 for his career. The senior became the 42nd player in school history to score more than 1,000 points.

Richmond showed no ill-effects from Saturday's 82-72 loss to North Carolina, jumping out to a 36-17 lead at halftime.
