RGIII moves well during Redskins practice

Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III returned to practice with the Washington Redskins on Wednesday and looked smooth during drills, according to reports.

Griffin missed last Sunday's win over Cleveland with a sprained right knee. Rookie Kirk Cousins started in his place and threw for 329 yards.

The Washington Times reported that Griffin moved easily during practice, planted on his injured leg while throwing the ball and worked on rollouts.

With the Redskins (8-6) tied for the NFC East lead with the New York Giants and Dallas, Griffin is hoping to return to the starting lineup on Sunday against Philadelphia. Washington has won five consecutive games to vault into playoff contention.

"I'm ready to play whenever they want me to play," he said after going through a full practice. "Now if it's this week, next week -- a couple weeks -- whatever they say goes, so I'll be ready."

Griffin tweeted before he was deactivated for last week's game against the Browns that it was the team's decision for him to sit out. Coach Mike Shanahan said doctors had not cleared Griffin for the game.

The NFL's top-rated passer injured the knee in the fourth quarter of an overtime win over Baltimore the previous week. He said Wednesday that he's feeling good now and trying to convince the coaches that he's able to go at full strength.

"I think I just need to prove it on the field," Griffin said. "When I'm out here running around, doing all the plays and getting the reps, that's when they'll see. And then it's just up to them to decide."
