Reports: Angels trade Haren to Cubs for Marmol

The Los Angeles Angels have traded pitcher Dan Haren to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for pitcher Carlos Marmol, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

There had been speculation that Haren would be traded before Friday's midnight deadline on his $15.5 million club option for 2013.

The Angels apparently were prepared to buy out Haren's option for $3.5 million if they could trade him. He was just 12-13 with a 4.33 earned run average in 2012.

Marmol is scheduled to make $9.8 million next season. He went 3-3 with 3.42 ERA and 20 saves in 2012.

It's unclear whether there are any other players involved in the trade and whether money will be exchanged as well.
