Report: USC offers scholarship to eighth-grader

The University of Southern California football team, coming off a mediocre 7-6 season, have one eye on the future.

The distant future.

According to ESPN.com, the Trojans offered a scholarship to wide receiver Nathan Tilford -- who hasn't even begun high school.

The eighth-grader is due to attend Upland (Calif.) High School, about 40 miles east of USC's campus.

Tilford is already 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, according to ESPN.com, which reported that the Trojans previously made offers to Long Beach (Calif.) Poly defensive back Iman Marshall, who is two years away from graduating high school, and Gardena (Calif.) Serra High wide receiver Brandon Burton, who is just a year older than Tilford.

Tilford isn't the most celebrated member of the Class of 2017 to this point. Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab running back/linebacker Dylan Moses has received scholarship offers from Alabama, Texas, Florida and LSU.
