Report: LSU to name Cameron as offensive coordinator
LSU coach Les Miles has hired longtime NFL assistant Cam Cameron as LSU's new offensive coordinator, CBSSports.com reported Friday.
Cameron, 52, was fired as the Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator during the 2012 season and replaced by Jim Caldwell. The Ravens went on to win the Super Bowl.
Miles and Cameron are friends, having served on Bo Schembechler's staff at Michigan in the 1980s.
Cameron takes the place of Greg Studrawa, whose LSU offense struggled last season. The Tigers finished No. 85 in total offense and No. 92 in passing yards during a 10-3 season.
A former college quarterback, Cameron has helped developed a number of players at that position, including the Ravens' Joe Flacco and the Chargers' Philip Rivers.
Cameron's resume includes five years as head coach at Indiana University, one year as the Miami Dolphins' head coach, five years as offensive coordinator with the Chargers and four-plus seasons with the Ravens.
