Report: Lions' Johnson, Suh restructure contracts

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has agreed to restructure his contract to provide the team with cap room, something teammate Ndamukong Suh also did last week, Yahoo! Sports reported Monday.

The restructured deals for Johnson and Suh call for them to get a base salary of the league minimum this season, according to the report. They will get the rest of their money in the form of a signing bonus that can be prorated over the remainder of their contracts.

Suh's renegotiated deal created $7.68 million in cap space. Johnson's modification provided nearly $3.5 million in cap space.
